Dance Alive!

Welcome to the twelth BloodThirsty Vegans newsletter. June 2010 Edition. The BloodThirsty Vegans (BTVs) is a musical family that makes music (sweet, sweet music) about peace, love and understanding to unite the human family, foster respect for the interconnected web of life, and remind the tribes how liberating it was to dance the dances of freedom.

Currently the BloodThirsty Vegans are My Rap Name is Alex, Janna "MC Vendetta" Willoughby, Dave Harter, Ben Sachs, Bryan "Brrrn" Lohr & Kaitlyn Marie Gardner and sometimes Michael Delaney or Liz Bailey.

Contacting BloodThirsty Vegans directly is pretty simple. We are all regular visitors to our facebook page. We design and operate our own website at bloodthirstyvegans.com that has message forums where you can leave messages for us or other BTV friends and fans. We also have myspace and twitter.

Good Start for Do You Even Know?

Our first music video, Do You Even Know, made it's debut in last month's newsletter. In just one month it has already gotten more than 500 views.

500 views is not a ton of views in the world of YouTube, but it is quite an accomplishment for us given that our only other video to have 500 views took 10 months to get there and the DYEK music video did it in under 4 weeks. Please do subscribe to our YouTube channel, we are looking into posting more stuff there.

Our first CD, Let the Feast Begin, is FINALLY available online. For just $6 you or someone you love can have all 12 songs from Let the Feast Begin along with digital art created just for the download CD and full lyrics embeded in the songs.

The online download version doesn't include the bonus tracks or all of the goodies that come with the physical CD, but for $6 you can get 12 awesome songs that we really worked hard on.

Check it out on BandCamp:

It's almost that time of year again. Buffalo's infringement Fastival = the most wonderful time of the year for many Buffalonians. As the weather gets warmer you can start to feel infringement in the air around here. People are hard at work making plans and preparations and we're going to get together on June 19th to help those people make some Money so that this year's infringement can have its best possible head start.

We are now booking shows for July 2010, please send any ideas or inquiries to booking at bloodthirstyvegans dot com. For more info on our upcoming show schedule check out this link where we post upcoming shows.

For the month of May we decided to take a month off and just concentrate on practicing and writing new songs. The only show we were intending to play was our monthly show, Dance Alive. But we got invited to do a mid-month show for bicycles. We have a hard time saying no to bicycles so we ended up doing that show also.
Dance Alive: May - there were not a lot of people at Dance Alive in May. We suspect it was because we put so much energy into promoting our CD release party the week before and didn't put much into reminding people about Dance Alive. But, there was a group of new people that had never been to Dance Alive so we put on an intence show for them. Or, actually, with them. After open mic we started jamming around a bit and created some awesome music on the spot with our new friends and a few familiar family members.

Merge into the Bike Lane - Then in the middle of the month we headed on to the stage at Merge Restaurant to play a show for Bike to Work Week and Green Options Buffalo. There were many new people there that were seeing a BTV show for the first time. And as luck would have it we had a TON of technical difficulties: a faulty keyboard, mic & monitor problems, a mixed up set list... you name it we had problems with it. But we powered through it and had a really fun show anyway and sold lots of copies of our Let the Feast Begin CD afterwards which always helps our mood when we're playing a benefit show for a good cause.

Gratitude to all of the people who've been helping this BloodThirsty Vegans Adventure go. All the people passing around links to our video and showing up to shows and buying CDs and then actually listening to them and all of the folks who offer us an encouraging word when we need it... supreme gratitude.

Gratitude to Euphraxia for being patient with us and forgiving when things get overlooked. <3 <3 <3 to y'all.

Gratitude to all the activists, movers and shakers who are moving the things that need to be moved and shaking the things that need shaking.

Fun Link of the Month
Housing Co-Op documentary - Loren Sonnenberg made this brief (but awesome) documentary about the formation of the Plankton House in Buffalo.
