Welcome to the eleventh BloodThirsty Vegans newsletter. May 2010 Edition.
The BloodThirsty Vegans (BTVs) is a musical family that makes music (sweet, sweet music)
about peace, love and understanding to unite the human family, foster respect for
the interconnected web of life, and remind the tribes how liberating it was to
dance the dances of freedom.
Currently the BloodThirsty Vegans are My Rap Name is Alex,
Janna "MC Vendetta" Willoughby, Dave Harter, Ben Sachs,
Bryan "Brrrn" Lohr & Kaitlyn Marie Gardner
and sometimes Michael Delaney or Liz Bailey.
Contacting BloodThirsty Vegans directly is pretty simple.
We are all regular visitors to our facebook page.
We design and operate our own website at bloodthirstyvegans.com
that comes complete with message forums where you can
leave messages for the band as well as other BTV friends and fans. And we
also maintain pages on myspace and twitter.
Our first CD, Let the Feast Begin, is FINALLY ready for sale! After almost
a year of recording, changing, adding, designing, planning and
assembling, we have produced an album full of positive messages,
great music, good vibes and most of all, LOVE!
The CDs will hopefully be available in local record stores such as
Record Theater, Spiral Scratch Records, Rust Belt Books and more
TBA (possibly as soon as this week). We are also working hard to get
it available for purchase online asap.
Thank you SO much to everyone who helped to make this album possible,
especially those willing to shuck out their $10 and then wait several
months to see the finished product. Your faith and patience in us is
invaluable; you made this CD possible!
Our first music video, for Do You Even Know?, is FINALLY
ready for public viewing. Please help us out by watching this
on YouTube
and subscribing to our channel and giving the video some thumbs up
and some comments and all that. And share the video with your
friends if you really like it.
And last but not least on the news front, we have added the
My Band
tab to our facebook page. Facebook is still the most utilized means
of interacting with and contacting us so now we have added the ability
to enjoy some of our songs, videos and photos right on facebook.
The BloodThirsty Vegans will rest, regroup and recharge their batteries during the month
of May. Other than Dance Alive we will probably not be doing any shows this month. But
we will be back in action with a few cool shows in June and a summer full of
amazing events: Lawn Disco #3, Buffalo infringement festival, BEATfest & June & Roger's
#30 just to name a few.
The Intergenerational Dance Party continues! Dance Alive is jumpin
again first Friday of the month, May 7th. Potluck begins at 6. Bring some
food to share. Live music by BloodThirsty Vegans from 7ish to 9ish with
an intermission for our Kid Friendly Open Mic in between sets.
We are now booking shows for June 2010,
please send any ideas or inquiries to booking at bloodthirstyvegans dot com.
For more info on our upcoming show schedule check out this
link where we post upcoming shows.
Haiti Benefit Event -
Ever the creative problem solvers, the mighty, mighty BloodThirsty
Vegans figured out how to play this early April show with only half a band. Thanks
to our friend Courtney and our new friend Andy we were able to turn
three hand drums and two emcees into a memorable performance to benefit
a great cause on the campus of Buffalo State College.
Live at Nobodys -
On April 10th BloodThirsty Vegans shared the Nobody's stage with Glass Hero,
I was the Scarecrow, and the Royal We for a fun night of music at one of
Buffalo's best live music venues.
The Local Show -
On April 15th My Rap Name is Alex went on WBNY's the Local Show to promote
the Lizzard Ball and our new CD.
Lizzard Ball - The Lizzard Ball is a WNY activist tradition
dating way back. With the help of special guest MCs Jason Donati and
Kirk Laubenstein and inspired musical performances by Lara Buckley,
Eco Joe, Equinox, Fudgychewy, Kilissa Cissoko and Gruvology, BloodThirsty
Vegans were able to help raise considerable fundage for the Peace Education
Fund. On a beautiful, warm night in late April we rocked the great outdoors
behind the Dnipro Social Hall until the wee hours of the morning.
Let the Feast Begin CD Release Party -
Then to end the month with a bang we rocked the house at the Gateway Gallery
to celebrate the release of our new CD with a bunch of family and friends.
We totally let the feast begin as there was quite a spread of delicious
food for all tastes. In addition to us playing songs from the CD there
was also live music by the Karma Salesmen, Glass Hero and Dali's Ghost as
well as a dance performance by Euphraxia.

At the risk of repeating ourselves (from previous months) we would really
like to thank Eric Winton from Soundwave Studios a lot for
recording Let the Feast Begin with us. Thanks to Tony Caferro of
DeepThinka Records for additional recording and help. Thanks to all of the
people who preordered the CD for basically funding the project, and thanks
for your patience while we finalized the last details.
Big thanks to Kim & Tim. Kim Worpek of Rat Bastard Films for screenwriting
and directing our video. Tim Nowak of Khaos Intended Productions
for camera work and many hours of editing. We really appreciate it.
Thanks to everyone who helped with or attended our CD release party.
Big thanks to Steve for running such a great venue, Gateway Gallery.
Thank you so much to all of the people who helped cook for the feast.
Thank you for making music with us: the Karma Salesmen, Glass Hero &
Dali's Ghost. Thank you to Euphraxia for dancing. Thank you to
all who attended and helped make all the fun.
Silo, thanks for being our battery.
Dave We're not usually in the habbit of thanking ourselves, but WOW,
thanks for making our sound the best that it can be and putting so much
time and energy into running sound this month Dave.
Fun Link of the Month
Charlie the Unicorn #2 - Many people have already seen this. Some have not. Either way, it's pretty important that you put a banana in your ear.
